What are the Ranks?

Scout is the first rank that a boy achieves upon entering Boy Scouts, after completing the entering requirements. |

Second
Class rank requires more knowledge of outdoor skills, and greater participation with all of the troop's activities. |
| First
Class rank requires many nights of overnight camping and outdoor activities with the troop. The boy is ready to begin work on Merit badges, and also assume a variety of leadership positions within the troop. |

Star
rank indicates that a boy is working diligently toward the higher ranks of Boy Scouting. He is achieving more Merit badges now, and is looking toward more challenging skills and outings. |
| Life rank requires that the boy has achieved many Merit badges, has taken several troop leadership positions, and has participated in many service projects and overnight outings. |

Eagle
is the highest rank that a boy can achieve in Boy Scouting. It signifies the highest commitment by a young man to make a goal in life and to work to achieve that goal. Only about 2 percent of all Boy Scouts make Eagle rank. |
